Questions To Ask Yourself When Optimizing Your Website for Search Engines

Here are some things you should ask yourself before you begin your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) with Bower Web Solutions or anyone for that matter.

1. Are You Tracking Your Web Traffic Results Now and Do You Have Access To This Information?

Web analytics is critical for measuring currently how well (or not so well) your site is doing in search engine ranking. If you are not using Google Analytics or need to install it, do it now. If you have any questions, we are here to help.

2. What is The Goal of Your Site and Who Are Your Trying to Target?

Some of our customers will say “The goal of our site is to sell our product.” And your target audience? “Umm … everyone?” Not a good answer. If you do not know who is buying your products, how will the search engines determine what search engine phases to target and focus on. Put yourself in the shoes of a potential customer. Not knowing your company by name, what search terms might THEY (not YOU) being typing in to (hopefully) find a company such as yours?

3. Do You Own Multiple Domain Names?

These days, multiple domains names with website containing duplicate or near duplicate information may actually do more harm than good. Consolidate.

4. What Makes YOUR Company Different than the Rest?

When asked this question, most companies will answer that they are “more friendly” than their competitors. In today’s internet marketplace, it is vital to differentiate your products and services from the crowd. You need to make this point crystal and concise on your website.

5. After Someone Visits Your Site, What Do You Want Them to Do EXACTLY?

Signing up for a newsletter or updates, following you on social media, filling out a contact form, calling you are all “Calls To Action”.

Getting higher web ranking is one thing, getting actual sales / customer contact is something else.
