Reasons Why Your Website’s Search Engine Ranking Many Have Dropped

Reasons Why Your Website’s Search Engine Ranking Many Have Dropped

1). Questionable Search Engine Optimization Tactics

If you “participate in linking schemes” (i.e. buying/selling links on your site), use “doorway pages” (pages with no valid content and serve no real purpose other than to load up your site with keywords), or create “hidden text” on a site (i.e. white text on a white background) you run the risk of receiving lower search engine rankings or being black-listed from search engine sites altogether.

2). Search Engine Programming is ALWAYS Changing

Search engines are CONSTANTLY tweaking their search results every now and then to provide better, more accurate search users for their users as well as keeping spammers and scammers at bay.

Poor-quality content or duplicate content will hurt your rankings. ALWAYS be writing new and original content, and update your site frequently. Need help maintaining your website and keeping its information current? Ask about our webmaster services.

3). Your Website’s Site Map Is Broken

If your website has broken links, HTML code errors or other issues, search engine bots might not be able to crawl it properly and as such, your website’s ranking may suffer.

4). Important External Links Pointing To Your SIte Got Removed

Sometimes higher rankings of your own site are due to other websites with top Google rankings pointing to you. When these links get removed from these third party sites, it can affect your site’s overall ranking. Remember the number of website that link TO YOU is MUCH more important that the total number of website that YOU point to. Also the quality and overall popularity of those sites which point back to you is important. One link to your website from CNN.com will have much more of a positive effect on your site’s ranking than from backlinks on 50 sites no one has ever heard of.
