How to Mark All Emails as Read on Your iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPhone5
Everyone here at Bower Web Solutions now have iPhones. While we love our iPhones, there are some things we still find annoying. One of these things is having to individually mark every email on your iPhone as read.
We wanted to find a solution and after searching the web, we have. Credit goes to Redditor nmpraveen who has discovered a tip (or is it a glitch?) that does the trick. I tried it on my iPhone and it works. Although I haven’t tested it on an iPad, I imagine the trick would work on iPads as well.
As demonstrated in the video below, the trick is pretty simple and consists of the following steps:
- On your iPhone, open up the Mail app and tap the Edit button.
- Select one message.
- Press and hold the Mark button at the bottom of the screen.
- While still pressing and holding the Mark button, tap the email you previously selected to unmark it.
- Release the Mark button.
- Tap the Mark as Read button.
Doing this apparently confuses Mail because no messages are selected. It appears that the iPhone interprets “nothing” as “everything”, so it will mark all your messages as “read” without having to select each one individually.
