How to Prepare for Google Analytics 4
If your website uses Google Analytics you should have received a ‘Google Analytics 4 is replacing Universal Analytics. On July 1, 2023, Universal Analytics properties will stop processing new hits’ email.
Both traditional Analytics and the new Google Analytics 4 (aka GA4) can be run at the same time. Therefore the sooner you install GA4 on your site, the more data you’ll have for comparison when the switch happens. If you use Google Analytics you’re going to have to do it anyway.
Universal Analytics’, which uses a UA- site code, successor, Google Analytics 4 (GA4), which uses a G- site code, has new privacy features, powerful reporting, predictive intelligence and deeper integration with other Google products.
So this article isn’t about all the new things that GA4 can do but just to convince you to do install GA4 soon. You’ll have to do it anyway, and once July 2023 rolls around, if you want compare how you’re doing with a previous year, well, if you don’t have July 2022 GA4 data you’ll have nothing to compare to.
